When told to adopt a traveler’s mindset for life – carry only what you need for the journey – what do you think your pup would pack? It’s funny to imagine our dogs collecting what they imagine to be the essentials and the backpack being full of tennis balls, stuffed toys, plenty of food and snacks, maybe a small water bottle if they remember it… but definitely lots of snacks.
Well Ella is not a fan of tennis balls, she has her moments with stuffed toys, barely eats her food and while she can be very picky with treats and chews, the snacks would be at the very top of her list. And one of her all time favorites since she was a pup is SmartBones.
We had actually never heard of SmartBones before until we saw them in the store and loved how they were a healthy alternative to rawhide. Growing up, my family had always given our dogs rawhide. This was before we knew about how hard it can be on their digestive systems and other risks like choking. We take those risks seriously but also knowing how important chewing is to help keep their teeth clean and jaws strong, we wanted to see what other options were out there. We gave SmartBones a try and it has since become a staple in our home.
